The Weekly Bev - 30th Edition
Monday, October 21st, 2024
Good morning, Weekly Bev crew! 30th edition! Let’s dive into it.
🚴 Ending the Vlog FAQ
Since announcing that the vlog will soon be coming to an end on day 1200, I’ve received quite a few questions from all of you, so I wanted to take a moment to answer some of them! Here’s everything you need to know about the end of the vlog and what’s coming up next…
uploading vlog 1100… i was nervous
Wait, you’re really ending the vlog?! Why?
Confirmed! After three years, I’ve decided it’s time to bring this chapter to a close. The vlog has been an incredible journey, but I feel very ready to explore new creative directions. It’s bittersweet, but I’m extremely excited for what’s next. The vlog became a daily habit for so many of us, and that’s something I’ll always cherish. While I can confirm that I won’t be uploading daily in this next stage, I’m already working on new videos with a mix of formats that allow me to tell even bigger stories. I also wrote a lot more about the “why” behind the decision in the 28th edition of the Weekly Bev.
How often will you be posting?
I won’t have a strict schedule like I do at the moment with the vlog. I’m aiming for quality over quantity, so the uploads will be less frequent, but I am hoping for a few times a week. I don’t think it will be consistent from video to video either. It’ll give me time to experiment, fine-tune the storytelling, and bring you something truly special each time.
What kind of content will you make after the vlog?
I’m experimenting with long-form videos that dive into stories in a more immersive way. I want my videos to have a cinematic, “fly-on-the-wall” feel, where you experience things as they unfold. I never want to have to speak into the camera and explain the context of a shot or the reason for something. I want the video, the dialogue, the actions of myself and others in the videos to tell the story. Think of the next chapter as my storytelling just from a fresh angle and with more room for me to breathe…if that makes sense!

When will we see the first post-vlog video?
The first video after the vlog will go live almost immediately after day 1200. I want the transition to be seamless so that you all get to see what’s next without a long wait. This community has been everything to me, and I’m excited to keep sharing, just in a new way :)
Are you nervous about ending the vlog?
To be honest, yes. There’s definitely nervousness, but seeing everyone’s positivity and excitement for what’s next has been amazing. I’m letting go of the fear and leaning into the excitement. It really does feel like the perfect setup for a fresh start.
How did people in your life react?
Almost entirely positive! When I told my parents, my mom mentioned that she’s going to miss having such a great pulse on my day-to-day life, which is a really great point. There are so many people in my life who mention how fun and actually helpful it is to reference the vlog and stay updated on my life. Friends, family, and you all have been so encouraging, which has really confirmed that this decision is the right one. I feel very lucky to have this level of support.
Will you ever come back to daily vlogging?
Right now, I don’t think so. Daily vlogging has been amazing, but I’m ready to explore new ways of storytelling. That said, I’m not a fortune teller…you never know—if there’s something exciting worth a daily format, I might revisit it someday.
Will you still do brand work?
Yes, but I think it’ll be more selective and spaced out. I’ll be dedicating a lot of my time to these new projects and to Hydrant of course, which I want to be a big part of my focus. The aim is to keep the videos as a source of creative fulfillment, without the pressure to make everything revenue-focused.
What will the last vlog consist of?
I’m planning something special! It might be a bit of a “farewell” tribute to the vlog itself, something meaningful to celebrate everything we’ve built together. I’m not sure on all the details yet, but it’ll be a proper send-off, I promise.
Thank you all for the incredible support.

💥 Hydrant Outreach
This week I completed the initial batch of agency outreach for Hydrant’s B2B push. Here’s how it went…
I sent just over 130 total emails, most of which were specifically tailored to the individual receiving them. This meant the process was a bit more tedious than a standard copy and paste, and it took multiple days. The extra work was worth it though, because the response rate was pretty high, right around 20%. In my experience that is pretty good for cold outreach. A solid number of the emails went out yesterday morning as well, so hopefully the response rate keeps climbing.

The Hydrant team and I have already jumped on a few calls and had some follow up emails which have all been promising. The team is pretty in the weeds on our process and practice each week, so it is nice to get an outside perspective asking questions to identify gaps in the service. So far, all of the questions have been pretty straightforward answers which has been a huge confidence boost. Being able to “sell” a product becomes much easier when it is as robust as Hydrant.
Most of this outreach will take some time before we get to full integration. Hopefully a few of them cross the line before the end of the year. More on that to come. If you or anyone you know runs an agency, let me know! I have a great way for them to outsource payments :)
responses like this get us excited
